Recycling Process at i-Go.Life

At i-Go.Life, we are not only dedicated to supplying businesses with high-quality refurbished technology but also committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility through our recycling process. Our recycling efforts are aimed at reducing electronic waste and minimizing the carbon footprint associated with the technology industry.

Here’s a detailed overview of our recycling process

Device Collection and Evaluation

We buy back all existing IT equipment from businesses, regardless of the condition – pristine, poor, or faulty. These devices are then thoroughly evaluated to determine their suitability for refurbishment or recycling. We will get you a rebate on working and non working kit collected.

Refurbishment and Repair

Devices that can be refurbished and brought back to working condition undergo a comprehensive refurbishment process. Our skilled technicians utilize state-of-the-art software and diagnostic tools to identify and rectify any faults. Once refurbished, these devices are restored to their optimal performance, ensuring they look and work like new.

Recycling Faulty Devices

In a rare circumstance a device may have an unrepairable fault, in that case we follow environmentally responsible recycling methods. These faulty devices are carefully disassembled, and their components are sent for recycling to extract valuable materials and reduce waste.

Secure Data Erasure

Data security is paramount to us. Before any device undergoes refurbishment or recycling, we ensure all existing data is completely wiped through secure data erasure processes in line with the NIST 800 guidelines, protecting both businesses and their customers from data breaches.

Compliance

Environmentally compliant certificates will be generated for the tech which is recycled.

Carbon Offset Figures at i-Go.Life

At iGo, sustainability is at the core of our business model. By choosing refurbished technology, businesses can significantly reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future. Here are the carbon offset figures associated with our products and services:

Up to 89% Carbon Saving:

Compared to manufacturing new devices, the refurbishment and reuse of technology significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and water usage. Our products offer up to a remarkable 89% carbon saving, making them a more sustainable choice for businesses looking to lower their environmental impact.

1. A single refurbished smartphone prevents 178.2g of e-waste. Each brand new smartphone generates about 200.2 g of e-waste. A refurbished smartphone, just 22g — that’s 89% less!

2. A refurbished smartphone prevents 243.6kg of raw materials from being mined. It’s a little ridiculous, especially if all those resources are tossed back to the earth as waste in just a few years. Not-so-fun fact: there’s more gold in 1 ton of e-waste than in 1 ton of gold ore. With manufacturers pumping out 1.4 billion smartphones a year, you don’t need to be good at math to get that we’re depleting our natural resources at an unsustainable rate. Refurbished smartphones require much fewer raw materials (23.1kg if you replace the battery or the screen) and actually help us get the most out of the resources that have already been exploited.

3. A refurbished smartphone prevents 77.31kg of carbon emissions. Given the amount of energy and resources manufacturing a new smartphone requires, it’s no surprise that around 90% of a device’s carbon footprint is emitted before it ever leaves the factory. For a new smartphone, that’s 84.4kg of carbon emissions. A refurbished smartphone produces 7.1kg of CO2e, from end-to-end. That includes the entire repair lifecycle (from sourcing spare parts to delivery).

4. A refurbished smartphone saves 77,000 litres of water. That’s enough water to get your daily recommended 8 glasses of water a day for 103 years. To put it into perspective, a brand new smartphone sucks about 112 human-years-worth of drinking water (89,100 litres), most of which is used for mining and extracting raw materials. By going refurbished you’re using 86.4% less water.

Recycling and Circular Economy:

By encouraging businesses to trade in their existing IT, regardless of condition, we promote a circular economy where used technology is refurbished, resold, and reutilised, reducing the demand for new devices and minimising electronic waste.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Promotion:

Partnering with iGo allows businesses to showcase their commitment to sustainability in their CSR and ESG documentation. Our products’ green credentials, coupled with cost savings, contribute positively to their CSR agendas and demonstrate their dedication to environmental responsibility.

We believe that embracing refurbished technology not only benefits businesses financially but also helps them align with global sustainability goals. At the fast pace that iGo grows we will remain committed to our underlying values. Our dedication to environmental responsibility remains unwavering. Together with our partners, we strive to make a positive impact on the planet by choosing smarter and more sustainable technology solutions.
